- Chat Watch.NET 2.0 has gone live! Thanks to those who sent us their comments and
feedback. As you know, we've been preparing Chat Watch.NET 2.0 for almost 6 months.
We still welcome any other feedback.
Chat Watch.NET subscribes can now use their Chat Watch.NET account and password to unlock Chat Watch 5!

- Chat Watch.NET 2.0 will go live during the first week of February, 2008. You can
use Chat Watch.NET 2.0 before then by going to
http://www.chatwatch.net/2.0/. Once Chat Watch.NET 2.0 goes live the current
Chat Watch.NET interface will no longer be accessible. No action on your part is
required.

- Added support for storing MySpace IM chat logs.

- The time you have to update your credit card information in the event a monthly
transaction is declined has been changed to two months. (The time was previously
one month.) The change is to allow more time in case you are away for an extended
period of time. During the two months, you can still log into your account but you
will not be able to save any new chat logs until your credit card has been updated
and charged successfully. If your credit card has not been updated in two months
time your account will be cancelled.
Please consider enabling the postal mail contact option in Chat Watch.NET's settings
(under the My Account tab) to receive a notification if there is a problem
with your account.

- Added an option in the 'My Account' section for you to chose if you want to be contacted
via postal mail for issues regarding your account. If you select this option, the
only issue that we will contact you for right now is if there is a problem with
your subscription (credit card expiration or similar problem). This option is disabled
by default.

- Added a Synchronization option under the settings. This option allows you to control
whether or not to allow Chat Watch 5 to synchronize its chat logs with Chat Watch.NET. While most
home users may want to synchronize, business users of Chat Watch.NET who store chat
logs for more than one employee might not want to enable this option because it
could allow someone to read everyone's chat logs simply by synchronizing. The synchronization

- We have not had any news recently, but we are working to change that. Soon, we will
be adding the option of saving chat logs as PDF files. Also, Chat Watch 5 (scheduled
for January, 2007) will add support for logging Google Talk, Microsoft Office Communicator
2005, and probably AIM Pro. We will also soon be adding space quotas for new subscribers.
(This won't affect current subscribers.)
- Chat Watch 5 and the new Chat Watch LE will include improved support for Chat Watch.NET.
One of the improvements is that some funky characters will be able to displayed.
You may have noticed that some times characters such as , < > and " sometimes
do not display correctly in chat logs on Chat Watch.NET.
- A new version of Chat Watch LE is in the works. In addition to logging Chat Watch
5.9, we plan to add support for logging the last version of AIM Triton, and possibly
the new AIM 6.0 (but this is subject to change). Check back later for more details.
- We would also like to take a moment to thank all of our current and past Chat Watch.NET
subscribers for their business. Chat Watch.NET has been available now for a little
over a year and we're looking forward to the coming year!

- We have added Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 as an instant messenger in the
reports on the Chat Watch.NET reports page. The reason for this is that Chat Watch
5.0 will be able to log Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 chats.

- Released Chat Watch LE 1.3 - This new version now logs the Skype messenger!
In case you have not heard, Skype is a relatively new service that advertises free
voice calling over the internet to your friends. In addition, Skype is also an instant
messenger which is becoming more popular all the time. Please note that Chat Watch
LE does not log the voice chats, only the text chats (instant messages). Chat Watch
LE logs Skype 1.4.0.84. If you encounter any problems with the new version please
let us know.

- Added Statistics page that shows statistics concerning IP addresses, users,
days, and clients. Click the Reports tab and then click the Statistics link to access
the Statistics.

- Added Rules under the Settings. Rules will allow you to have Chat Watch.NET
automatically categorize your chat logs based on a selected criteria. For example,
you could have each chat log that contains "John" to be automatically placed into
a category called John. Click the Settings tab and then the Rules link to create
new rules.

- Added "Uncategorized" as an option when viewing chats by category. Selecting "Uncategorized"
will display the chat logs that have not been assigned to a category, such as Saved,
Trash, or a custom category. Typically, the "Uncategorized" option will the show
the newest chats.

- Logged chats now contain an extra field called External IP which contains
the external IP address of the computer sending the chat log to Chat Watch.NET.
The original IP field contains the internet IP address. The External IP field for
chats saved before today will be blank.

- Time Zone Setting - You can now select your time zone in Chat Watch.NET's
Settings. The times and dates of the instant message logs will be updated to reflect
your time zone.

- The number of logs you select to view on one page will be "remembered" each time
you visit Chat Watch.NET.
- You can now select to receive daily, weekly, and monthly reports in your e-mail.
The report will contain the number of instant message logs that were saved during
the previous period. To select to receive a report, click the Reports tab and scroll
down to the bottom of the page.

- Independent Auditors - You can now set up Independent Auditors that are allowed
access to read and review your instant message logs. This feature is intended only
for use only by businesses who need to satisfy compliance regulations and not for
home users.

- Contact Options - In the My Account section of Chat Watch.NET you can select
to receive your billing receipts and updates to Chat Watch.NET in your e-mail. Receipts
were always e-mailed by default but now you can choose whether or not you want to
receive them in your e-mail. Receipts are always available under My Account.

- Exporting Your Chat Logs - You can now export your chat logs as a comma-separated
values (CSV) file that can be opened in Microsoft Excel or any text editor such
as Notepad. You can choose which logs to export based on date and you can select
which fields to include in the export (message ID, User Name, Computer Name, ...).
To access the export tool, click the Reports tab and then click the Export Chat

- Viewing Chat Logs - Changed the page numbers from a list to a drop down in
the interest of space on the page and made the "Logs per page" option carry over
from page to page.
- Categories - You can now create your own categories for the chat logs in
addition to the Saved and Trash categories. Click Settings above and then the Edit

- Reports - Added a "Chats by Category" section that show the number of chat
logs in each category.

- Content Monitor - Added the Content Monitor to Chat Watch.NET which automatically
scans each chat log saved to Chat Watch.NET for a list of possibly inappropriate
words or phrases. We stress "possibly" and strongly encourage you to review the
chat logs as simply scanning for words and phrases is not foolproof. If a chat log
is found to contain a suspect word you will be immediately e-mailed a notification
giving the ID of the chat log. The e-mail will be sent to the address you used to
sign up with Chat Watch.NET. You can turn the Content Monitor on or off. Click Settings
above and then Account Password and Parental Control.
